Train an AI chatbot on your website and documents
Your chatbot is only as good as what it knows. Owlbee builds a first version from your own website in minutes, then lets you add documents, review every word and retrain whenever something changes.
Build your bot from your website
Start on the Create Chatbot page with your website address.
-
Enter your homepage
Optionally add your contact page and a few words about the business. Owlbee reads your most useful pages first: home, about, services, pricing, FAQ, contact and opening hours. It respects your robots.txt.
-
Owlbee drafts the chatbot
It writes a description, the chatbot's instructions, a greeting, and up to four training documents: an overview, products and services, FAQs, and contact details with hours.
-
Invented facts are removed
Any phone number, email address, link, price or time that does not appear on your pages is stripped before you see the draft. Owlbee also lists the gaps it noticed, such as missing hours.
-
You review, then train
Edit anything in the pre-filled form, then create the chatbot. Training starts automatically and you can watch its progress.
What you can train it on
| Source | Good for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Brochures, menus, guides, policies | Text is extracted page by page | |
| Word (DOCX) | FAQs, procedures, service descriptions | |
| Excel (XLSX) | Price lists, product exports, timetables | Useful for large product catalogues |
| JSON and TXT | Exports from other systems, notes | |
| Google Docs | Documents your team already edits | Share as "Anyone with the link can view" |
| Google Sheets | Live price or stock lists | The first tab is imported |
| Website scrape | Pulling in more pages later | Up to 50 pages per scrape |
Why grounded answers matter
A chatbot that guesses is worse than no chatbot. Owlbee searches your training content for the passages that match each question and answers from them, which keeps replies about your actual products, prices and policies. When you change a price or a policy, update the document and retrain, and the chatbot follows.
Online shops get extra help. Owlbee recognizes Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Wix and Squarespace stores, samples products from across the catalogue, and tells you when a shop is too large to read in full, so you can upload a product export instead. See AI chatbots for online stores.
